My name is Katie Benson and I’m a Certified Nutrition Therapist and Nutrition and Food Blogger over at Healing Whole Nutrition. I guess you can say cooking and nutrition has always been in my blood. I grew up making “healthy” weight loss meal plans for my friends, teaching them about “portion control” and having nothing on my TV except the Food Network. I truly believe I owe my cooking skills to Emeril, Giada and Bobby Flay.

Despite my passion for all things nutrition, I decided to major in Communications and Business at Ohio University, and took a job at a Private Equity firm as soon as I moved to Denver in 2010. Despite the excitement of my first 9-5, I decided it was time to chase my true passion and 2 years ago I decided to go back to school at the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver. I’m excited to finish their Master Nutrition Therapy program in June 2016, where I will become a Master Nutrition Therapist (MNT).

Even though I’m not a MNT yet, I am still a practicing Nutrition Therapy Practitioner (CNTP) in my new home of Houston, Texas (thanks to my husband’s oil and gas job). I work with many different clients and issues, but my main focus and passion is helping with fertility, pregnancy and family wellness. Helping couples with their nutrition before and during their pregnancy is incredibly rewarding and I love the work I do.

My Nutrition and Food blog, Healing Whole Nutrition, is my creative outlet and a place where I can share my healthy recipes with friends, family and the web. You can check it out below!
