Menu Plan for 6-9 Month Olds
The other day I pulled out my daily menu plans that I had used for my little one and thought that it would be a great thing to share with you. Back then I was working full time so I struggled to keep track of what she had eaten at daycare the day before and what I needed to pack for her the following day so she was getting all the nutrients she needed.
So I did what every normal person would do, I made a spread sheet of all the food she would have for the week. Does that make me sound crazy? Huph.
I would come up with each plan the weekend before, usually after her bedtime while enjoying a nice glass of wine. I would see what I had in the freezer and fridge that was already prepared, make a list of other items I needed to make or pick up at the store and create a balanced plan.
Spending 20 minutes one time a week made feeding my little one super easy to get all there food ready before 7 in the morning, all while knowing I was giving her a nutritious, balanced diet. So I used it like my baby food bible.
Each cube refers to 1 ounce of food. I would make almost all of my food ahead of time and then defrost when needed. You can find the recipes Here, Here, Here and Here.
Enjoy!

Hey Michelle! I really enjoyed your blog. I got a lot of baby food ideas by reading yours. I have a 6 months and 2 weeks old baby. How much meals should a baby in his age have in a day? I am still confused about "snack" for babies, what’s its difference with food offered for breakfast-lunch-dinner? Thank you!
Hello Auriza,
At this age, it really depends on your baby. Some babies are totally into purees and can eat 3-5 small meals a day, while others are only into have 1 meal a day. I always suggest giving them their puree meals after their milk (breast or formula). I like giving them meals that mimic the meals you eat during the day. Breakfast is usually a fruit puree with maybe oatmeal or yogurt. Lunch can be a veggie puree with some added fat and/or protein. For snacks (either in the morning or afternoon) you can do fruit or a veggie puree, smashed avocado or smashed banana. Dinner is usually a combination of a fruit and veggie mixed with either a meat or grain or both. Again, this all depends on your baby and how much they are eating at this point and how many different foods, grains, proteins and fats you have introduced to them.
I will be doing some more detailed posts about baby meal planning in the near future.

Michele

Thanks so much for posting! I receive your newsletter and i think its so helpful to get great ideas for nutritious meals for my baby. I read everything you post. I got my pretty school bus lunchbox and it arrived yesterday. Oh yeah, my baby is only 9 months and has no teeth yet. But im so excited to feed him more often! He only eats once or twice a day. He gets very constipated. We’re going through either teething, separation anxiety or a milestone. Either way, this stinks. He wakes every hour or two. It’s been two week of this on Monday! Do solids help him sleep
Better?
Thank you for being such a fan!!! I love that you already bought the bus lunchbox. I know you are going to get a ton of use out of it (after he gets more teeth!). I find that yes, food does help babies sleep more because they are not as hungry during the middle of the night. I liked to feed my babies around 5;30-6 so they were full and happy by bedtime (7 in our house). Of course as you said, he might be teething, having separation anxiety or a milestone, or all of them! For constipation, try my constipation puree (search for it), it does wonders for the littles ones. Hope you get some more sleep.
