My dear friends, I have some big news to share with you.

Really big!

Actually, it is quite small right now but will be growing bigger as the months go on. That’s right I am pregnant with babyfoode#2!! There are moments when I am beyond excited and thrilled and other moments when I have panic attacks of ‘what was I thinking’ wanting 2 kids that are so young.

But for the most part, the nausea, throwing up and extreme tiredness have made me more consumed with self-pity then worrying about anything else for the moment. For as easy as my first pregnancy was, this one is the exact opposite – it is hard.

Really hard.

I am tired all the time. Almost all smells and foods will send me running to the bathroom and whenever I start to feel better I get hit with another round of nausea. And of course, with my luck, I have gained weight during this whole ordeal.  I am now in my 14th week, and things have started to look up. I do not need to take 2 or 3 naps a day. I don’t feel nauseous all day long and I can now look, smell and eat most foods [of course keeping them down is a different story].

So I gotta ask, how was your pregnancy? If you have more then one kiddo, were your pregnancies different?

Due to my extreme sickness during my first trimester, it made it hard to cook anything for myself let alone this little one. So for the last couple of weeks, it was this smoothie that has kept my little one fed and full-on most mornings. It is a basic toddler smoothie.

Not too complicated.

Not too much fuss.

You should have most if not all the ingredients on hand. And the best part is the kiddos love it. It’s had just enough sweetness to make them want seconds but is filled with powerhouse foods like spinach, blueberries and greek yogurt so you know that they are getting all the nutrients they need. There is a ton of smoothies floating around the internet and pinterest right not, and I have tried a ton of them but I just keep coming back to this tried and true smoothie classic.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup blueberries, frozen
  • 1/2 cup spinach, packed
  • 1/2 cup full-fat yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (2%, Almond, Coconut, ect)
  • 1/2 apple cored and sliced
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp flax seeds
  • 1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional
  • 1/2 cup Ice

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients into a blender in the order listed and blend starting on low and continuing on to high for 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Toddlers usually have an easier time drinking a smoothie if it is on the thinner side, so you may need to add in the additional liquid until you reach your desired consistency.

Notes

Age: 9 months and up. Omit the sweetner for baby under 1 year of age.
Yield: 2 toddler servings.
