Meal Plan for Babies – November
Apple, Blueberry and Broccoli Puree – A simple and delicious way for your little one to fall in love with the wonders of broccoli. Broccoli puree by itself can be a little intimidating because of it’s intense green, earthy [or as I see it tree root and bark] flavor but mix it with some sweet apples and juicy blueberries and you will have a winner on your hands. I might just have found a way for even myself to get some broccoli in my diet.
Leek, Sweet Potato and Cauliflower – A chunky puree loaded with leeks, sweet potatoes, cauliflower and chicken that will surely be a crowd pleaser for the little one. Would be great as a lunch or dinner puree with a sweet fruit puree for ‘baby dessert’. Using cheese is optional and I suggest introducing cheese to your kiddo after 9 months of age.
Cranberry + Pear + Cloves – A little tart. A little sweet. A whole lot of goodness! Nothing says this time of year like a big ol’ heaping side of cranberry. This puree will let the little one join right in with this seasons festivities.
Carrot & Mango – This site is awesome and I just love that her videos always put me in a good mood [as I jam out to the music while doing an embarrassing mom dance around the house]. Not to mention that they will bring a smile of happiness to your little one as they devour these delicious purees.

Pumpkin Pie Puree (with Banana) – Is it just me that wants to smash my face into anything and everything that is pumpkin this month? This puree is a classic and festive puree that you can do a million things with, mix with oatmeal, chicken, apple puree, beets, zucchini, leeks, pear, millet, barley, yogurt, etc etc etc. I suggest making at least a double batch with this one so you and your little one can eat to your hearts content.

Sweet Potato + Pear + Red Pepper – A quick and vibrant puree that you can whip up in minutes and will fill your wee ones tummy with happiness.

Hi Michelle – I recently purchased your book on amazon which led me to your website. I just have a quick question regarding your meal plan above … did you still feed your baby formula or breastmilk when you gave her these solid baby food? If so, who did the formula/breastmilk feeding fit into this meal plan?
Thanks.
Hello Ellen,
Yes, I definitely gave my baby formula/breastmilk while introducing purees until they were both 12 months and then we switched to milk. The amount really depended on how old they were at the time. At around 6 months I would say 80-90% of their calories comes from formula/breastmilk and then the rest purees. The percentages shift over time. But for us, I remember that until 10-11 months, it would go something like this (I am just using bottle so I don’t have to type so much, but of course breastfeeding can be subbed in here)
Morning – bottle (this was always the first bottle to drop for us)
Morning – breakfast puree
Mid morning – snack puree or bottle before nap
Lunch – lunch puree
Mid afternoon – bottle before nap
Pre-dinner – sometimes they would need either a little snack or bottle before dinner
Dinner – dinner puree
Post Dinner – bottle before bed
This is roughly our schedule, but keep in mind that my girls were both pretty good sleepers and they normally didn’t get fed after their bedtime bottle.
After 10 months here is what it looked like –
Breakfast – purees with some finger foods (? depending on if they are interested)
Mid morning – snack of purees or finger foods
Lunch – lunch puree
Mid afternoon – bottle before nap
Pre-Dinner – small snack of puree or finger food
Dinner – dinner puree with finger foods (biggest meal of day)
Post Dinner – bottle before bed.
Again, this is just a rough outline but gives you a sense of how I worked their schedule. I didn’t have a set amount of how much they drank, so if they wanted 2 ounces that was cool, while other times they could down 12 ounces. I wasn’t set on a certain amount at each bottle feeding.
Hope this helps!
xo, Michele
