This zesty Avocado + Edamame Dip requires just four ingredients! You’ll love it because it’s healthy, easy, and delicious, and your toddler will love it because they can dip and feed themselves. This is a terrific finger food to get more veggies into your picky eater, or to offer in a packed lunch or afternoon snack.

A bowl of toddler and kid friendly avocado and edamame dip.

After giving birth to my daughter, I felt that I had been ushered into a secret club.  Suddenly, there was a group of strangers that understood how brushing my teeth by noon was a reasonable daily goal.

There is solidarity in this Mama club and I feel it during moments that I would have least expected it, with what seems to be our secret handshake – a simple smile and nod.

I feel it when I make a run to Target after bedtime kisses and see you also wandering the aisles, your cart filled with a lone pack of paper towels, and I wonder if you also wish the Starbucks in the front of the store magically turned into a wine bar after bedtime. I smile and I nod, because I know that this may be the first break you are getting by yourself today too.

I appreciate the smile and nod, when I stand in line next to you at Chipotle, knowing you were also too tired, busy, or overwhelmed to put much effort into making dinner.  I will smile and nod back, when my toddler tosses her entire meal on the floor, and know you understand.

I see you at the playground; dried sweet potato puree streaked across your cheek.  I know you haven’t gone to the bathroom, in your own home, without an audience for months. I smile and I nod, because even though we have never met, I understand.

This secret club of Mamas is supportive and strong, when we set aside judgement and see that each and every Mama, unwashed hair thrown in a ponytail for the third day in a row, is doing her best.

Whether you gave up a thriving career to stay at home or kiss your sweet kiddo as you drop them off at daycare each morning.  Whether you breast fed beyond the two year mark or started formula from day one.  Whether you let your baby cry-it-out or you still co-sleep in your family bed.  Whatever course you have trekked on this adventure of Motherhood, I know you are doing the best for you and your family.  I just want to smile and nod and let you know you are doing a really damn good job, Mama.

Make a batch of this quick dip to share with your kiddo and pour yourself a Mommy drink. Smile, nod and pat yourself on the back. You deserve it.
