Roasted Pear + Date Baby Food Puree
This Roasted Pear + Date Baby Food Puree will taste like a special treat for baby. Filled with wholesome roasted pears, dates and a squeeze of orange for a little zest! Great for 6+ months – Stage 2 or 3 baby food.
Roasted Pear + Dates Baby Food Puree
This puree is a special treat because it is Friday and we can all use something a little extra special on Friday. For us mama’s our special Friday treat should involve a couple of these, these or these. If you are knocked up like I am then we will have to settle for this or this. Either way, it is a win/win.
But for the kiddos neither one of our special treats will due.
So, we have to try something else.
Something roasted and sweet with a squeeze of orange just because we can.
This puree is healthy enough to be called baby food but yummy enough that if us mama’s were to add some heavy cream, a good amount of sugar and some chocolate we could call it dessert.
A puree that is smooth and chunky at the same time while still having the power to melt in your mouth.
It’s Friday. Let’s go crazy.

Hi Michele,
Would this AMAZING recipe be ok for a 5 month old bubba?
Cheerio :p
I would probably wait until at least 6-7 months because the dates and orange can be a little tough for a 5 month old tummy. You can roast the pears though. They would still be super delicious by themselves and you could add just a splash of vanilla extract! Yummy!

I make this a couple times a week (my daughter has it every day) and my daughter loves it! What a great option to fight constipation :). I also add ground chia seed to boost nutritional content.
So glad to hear your daughter loves this recipe!! And I love that you add ground chia seeds!! Great idea! Yum!!

Do you not need to peel the pear first? Most of the recipes for pear puree I have seen require peeling first. Thanks!
I usually recommend peeling the pears for the first batch of purees and then when they get a little older and can handle the extra fiber, I don’t peal them. But you can do either and the puree will still turn out amazing.

Definitely trying this soon! Is there a reason the pears are roasted instead of steamed? Just seems easier to steam, that’s why I’m asking. Thanks!
When roasted the pears become swoon worthy! They get caramelized and have a deep and complex flavor, seriously, so good. Steamed (or simmered) pears are also great, just have a lighter and cleaner taste. There are recipes on the site using that method as well.
Can I just add water if I dont have juice from the 1 orange?
Yes!
This is the most delicious baby food I’ve ever  made and tasted… and this is the first time I’ve left a comment on anything!!
Absolutely delicious… Thank you!
Thank you so much for your first comment! So happy to hear that you loved this puree, I hope you were able to share it with baby;)
