Summer Inspired Dinner for Baby
Two bright and colorful summer baby food purees made from the freshest ingredients that this season has to offer!! This meal for baby is made in less then 30 minutes and includes both a dinner and dessert for baby!
Remember way back to 3 weeks ago when I made your baby a summer dinner with not 1 but 2 different purees? That was fun!
Let’s do it again!
Because there is nothing better then killing two birds with one stone. It also just makes my multi-tasking heart super proud! Like watch me – I’m making two delicious (and colorful) purees for baby, while cleaning the grout in my bathroom, while listening to my favorite Pandora playlist, all while doing what I really want to be doing – planning my next getaway away from the kids.
Multi-tasking momma style!
You guys, we haven’t even caught up on my two week long summer vacation! Let’s shake up this French Cocktail, sit out on your back deck and have a chat. I would invite you to mine, but I am still redoing it, so your house wins.
My vacation had 2 parts, well really 3 parts – vacation at my in-laws (who have a swimming pool!!), a short trip just the hubsters and I, and then back home to Denver for a homecation (like a staycation, but we actually didn’t go anything but stay home and do nothing for 4 days).
Getting on with it.. here is the lowdown of what we did -arrived to in-laws house in Georgia after a verrrrrrrrry long flight – Parker got a F-!
swam all hours of the day
ate my weight in southern food, cookies, ice cream and cake
left my kids with my in-laws
felt the freedom – and it was awesome!!
jumped, danced and walked along the ocean
ate my weight in seafood, cookies, ice cream and cake
got drunk off of 3…err….4 glasses of wine
enjoyed a hangover without the kids – honestly this might be the best part of the trip
slept in till 10 – you can totally hate me
went to Charleston for approximently 35 minutes to grab lunch and a fancy coffe
picked up the kids, cried a little because I needed at least 3 more nights off from being a mom
flew back home
come home to broken sprinklers and brown grass
and no wine in the fridge
went to store
attemped to unpack
pretended that we were on vacation for another 5 days
The thing about family trips with wee ones is that you only get very short periods of time to relaxation, like in 3 minutes at a time. And this usually happens when you toss an iPad and a bowl of ice cream in their direction them and tell then that ‘mommy needs to take a nap’. Most likely you will only get to lie down on the hammock and close your eyes for a few minutes before you hear one of them screaming for you.
Why do they never scream for dada when he is sitting 3 feet from them???
The best part of my homecation was that I finally got to go to the farmers market and I picked up some delicious raspberries, apricots and cherries! All of which I wanted to eat right there on the spot but I was able to use a little self control and save them for this scrumptious meal for baby.
And I am sure glad I did!! Just look at how beautiful those purees came out!
Let’s get cooking so we can get back to drinking –
Using my Beaba Babycook Pro 2x I was able to make these two purees at one time! Plus, I didn’t have to turn on any kitchen appliances, and during this heat wave we are having, was a blessing for me!
We load one cooking basket to the top with a sweet potato, apricots and salmon – a puree that is loaded with protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and C and calcium. With all that goodness this puree is easily a superpower puree for baby! .
But then it’s dessert time!!!!!!
In the other cooking basket we load it with bananas, raspberries and cherries with a big sprinkle of cinnamon. You can never have enough cinnamon in my opinion so I used a huge sprinkle of cinnamon in mine:)
This puree may be sweet and easy to spoon into baby’s (or your mouth) but it is also full of potassium, fiber and antioxidants! A healthy dessert for baby! Scccoooooorrrrrree!!!
Click them into the babycook and push start.
Time to do something productive like organize vacation pictures – or laze on the sofa. Totally your call.
When the timer is done, it’s time to puree! My favorite part!
Pulse-Pulse-Pulse and then it is ready to eat.
Bon appétit!!
Salmon, Sweet Potato + Apricot Baby Food Puree
Cherry, Banana + Raspberry Baby Food Puree

This looks great! I can’t wait to try it tomorrow. Do you think it would be possible to use dried apricots?
Yes, you could totally use dried apricots (place in a small bowl and pour boiling water over them and let sit for 5-10 minutes or until the plump back up). You could also do peaches or nectarines as well. Let me know how it turned out!

Couldn’t get apricots so I used peaches instead. Hope my LO will like it too, I think it came out yummy! Thanks for another great recipe. 😉
Great idea using peaches! I bet it tasted great with them (then again, anything tastes better with ripe peaches in it:)!!

I am excited to get salmon into my child’s diet for all its benefits for the brain. I hate the stuff but I don’t want to pass along my apprehension. Thanks for the lovely recipe.
lololo!! I feel the same way about beef! I have a new recipe in the works with roasted strawberry + salmon and am going to give it my girls in reusable pouches and think that sounds crazy but you are right, fish is SO good for their little brains!

Is it okay to use frozen raspberry & cherry?
Hello Sarah,
You can totally use frozen here. You might have to increase your time if you are doing it the traditional cooking method.

My LO is 6 months now, I’ve been introducing food from 4 months, he’s a real foodie 🙂 yet he refuses all veggies with the exception of sweet potatoe… No wonder it’s yummy sweet right? I’ll give it with your recipes, it never cross my mind mixing fruits and veggies and salmon. I wonder if it is ok to freeze banana, doesn’t your sauce turn brown? What do you think about broccoli, pear and butter? I have no potatoes and my next shopping is in Sunday. Love your page and fingers crossed!
Banana on it’s own turns brown, but when mixed with other produce it actually freezes really well! Broccoli, pear and butter sound great! Plus if you start with mostly pear and just a little broccoli the sweet taste might make your little one fall for a veggie!:)

Hi I started introducing my LO to foods at 5.5 months she’s now 6.5 months. When using these recipes should I introduce one item at a time or would it be ok to use one recipe for a few days?
Sorry for the delay…
If your LO has been exposed to a variety of foods without any allergies or problems, they you can start introducing fun combinations. At some point you just can’t test each food you give them by themselves. Of course, you want to stay away from anything an immediate family member has allergies from.
